2025-05-12 11:40 a.m. -- Here are the course grades, and the final exam scores. (Yeah, earlier than expected! Not as much final exam reviewing as usual.) My grading program doesn't show all of the scores at the end of the semester, for privacy reasons. The final exam histogram is at the bottom, as usual. The exam average was higher than those of the midterms, which is good, and unusual. (Finals, being comprehensive, often have lower averages than midterms.) Combined with the replacement of lowest midterm scores with final exam averages, and the good scores on Program #4, the course averages (and thus grades) look even better than they did after the second midterm. Those of you who have had classes with me before know that this many grades of A is not the norm. (It's a nice change!) Typically, a class will have natural gaps in the sequence of class averages. This time, the gaps aligned particularly well with the grade cut-offs. (This was true of 372 this semester, too. Very unusual!) Even so, if you are just below a letter-grade cutoff, rest assured that I did review your final. I reviewed three such finals and found no issues with the grading. If there's a student earning a grade of B, C, D, or E, there will be a student with the top B/C/D/E. Being one of those students does not entitle you to the next-higher grade. (If it did, after enough iterations, everyone would end up with an 'A'!) Demanding that I review or re-review your exam because you worked really hard, or you would lose your 4.0 GPA if you get a 'B', or anything of the sort, aren't valid justifications to change your final exam score or your class grade. When looking at the final exam scores, please note: The max score possible was 90, not 100. That means an exam score of 72, say, is better than it may seem at first glance (72/90 is 80%). I will not be uploading course grades to UAccess until later today, at the earliest. You get to see them before the University does. Good luck on your remaining finals (if any)!
