Make
a Slideshow Help Item
A
simple way to make a help item is to construct a slideshow with text
and images to explain, work a problem or present some review
information/helpful hints.

- Make a slide show that can be
saved as a PDF: use Google
Docs - presentation, PowerPoint, or OpenOffice, or other. Create
your slides using the
following considerations:
- Limit the number of slides
to a maximum of 8
- Use font size 20pt or
greater (some fonts are harder to read than others)
- Use margins of 0.5 inch on
all sides of the slides
- Don't put too much text on
the slide
- Try including shapes,
colors, different fonts
- Include and credit Creative
Commons images or add your own
- If showing a worked math
example, use the equation editor (PowerPoint)
- Save your final draft as a PDF
on your computer.
- Google Docs: click File >
Download as > PDF
- PowerPoint: click File >
Save as > choose Format > PDF
- In your problem edit view,
click "help item",
- Click "browse"
- Select the desired file
- Fill in the attribution - who made the item. If it's original, put your name.
- If you know the CC license, include it.
- If there is a url where you got information for the item, include it.
- click "done" it will be
uploaded and converted.
- When
your problem is complete, before you submit your problem for approval
by your mentor - share your problem (complete with help item) with your
TO group. Ask for constructive feedback.
Make edits as necessary and then send to your mentor for approval.
- Any edits will require you to
repeat steps 2 and 3.
- Submit for approval and publication by your mentor.

You can also take photos of
handwritten equations on a board or on paper.
