Make a Video Help Item
There are lots of ways to make a help video using free Web Tools. Here are a few suggestions.

Suggested reading: Richard Byrne, Making Videos on the Web

You can create a help item using your own video clips, creative commons images and video, screencast recordings or even write a narration and use an animation tool to create the story.

Make sure your file is saved to your computer as mov, mp4, m4v, flv, f4v or swf and then upload it to your problem in Teach Ourselves.

Create your own video clips

Use the Flip Video camera to record yourself or peers:

    * solving the problem on paper
    * performing a scientific skill or experiment (using proper saftey precautions)
    * acting out a skit
    * explaning a key concept to help with the problem

Animate your Help explanation

ToonDoo is an easy way to create cartoons. Once you create your series of scenes, you can download each image as a png (My ToonDoos). Create a slideshow using Google docs; insert each scene as an image. Download the presentation as a PDF, and then upload as a help item.

Xtranormal and similar animation sites like GoAnimate have download options for a fee. We're exploring ways to collaborate or earn alternative access for animations, but if you have your own account and can purchase a download to the proper format, you can submit your animation as a help item.

If you have access to Xtranormal, use of some gestures and features may be inappropriate and will prevent your problem from being approved.
