To the Cloud and Back: Lessons Learned from Microsoft and Windows Azure
This talk will present my experiences of 14 years at Microsoft, with an emphasis on my first-hand account of the motivation and design of Microsoft's cloud computing platform, Windows Azure. It will cover the project's conception, early project goals, and the evolution of its capabilities. I will include some of the open research challenges in cloud computing that the Windows Azure experience exposed.
