Biography
John Kececioglu is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science
at the
University of Georgia,
which he joined in 1995.
He received his PhD in Computer Science in 1991 at the
University of Arizona
under
Gene Myers,
and did postdoctoral work at the
Centre de Recherches Mathématiques of the
Université de Montréal
in 1991 with
David Sankoff,
and at the Department of Computer Science of the
University of California at Davis
from 1992-94 with
Dan Gusfield.
His research interests are in the
design and analysis of algorithms,
especially for discrete problems in computational biology
such as
He is particularly interested in the
implementation of discrete algorithms,
and is involved in several implementation projects,
including
-
PRIMAL, a system for
practical rigorous multiple alignment, and
-
DALI, a
discrete algorithms library.
John is
a recipient of a National Science Foundation
CAREER Award
and is a University of Georgia
Lilly Teaching Fellow.
