- Unzip
phonemes.zip. This is how you'd do it on a
Unix system:
> unzip phonemes.zip
> ls phonemes
aa ah aw ay ch dh er f hh iy k m ng oy r sh th uw w y z
ae ao ax b d eh ey g ih j l n ow p s t uh v wh yu zh
- Compile
play.java:
> javac play.java
- Now try to play some words:
> cd phonemes
> java -cp .. play ey z eh k s yu ax l
Note that the play program expects the phonemes to reside in
the current directory.

play has two extra built-in phonemes,
blank (which is used to separate words) and
silent (which does nothing):
> cd phonemes
> java -cp .. play ey z eh k s yu ax l blank ey z eh k s yu ax l silent
