Subject: Clarifications and help on the assignment

The assignment has an error in the type specification of fillAlong and
fillDown.  The types should be

fillAlong :: VertAlign  -> Pane -> [ Pane ] -> Pane
fillDown  :: HorizAlign -> Pane -> [ Pane ] -> Pane

( My initial design of these predicates expected the caller to pass in
the size of the pane to align to; then I changed my mind and decided it
would be better for fillAlong and fillDown to call paneSize. )

There has been some confusion about how spaces should be drawn in the
Xwindows renderer.  You might like to try drawing a picture of empty
space on a blank sheet of paper, then translate your actions into a
Request list (you should find there is a rather simple, unique
solution...)
