The final report should follow a similar format to the proposal, as described below. Reports should be submitted as PDFs. Students may use a format of any conference / journal, but the NeurIPs format is recommended.

The proposal serves two useful purposes beyond: First, it allows me to assess viability of the project and to provide useful suggestions. Second, it serves as a checkpoint that the student has adequately thought through the problem formulation and approach. In short, if it is difficult to describe a project on paper then, it will be difficult to execute the project.
Proposals will be written in the NeurIPs format. They should be relatively brief (at least 4 pages, but no more than 8). Despite being brief, they should provide adequate detail for me to assess whether it is (1) a good idea (2) well-scoped and likely to be successful in the time available.
With the above instructions in mind, the student is free to choose content of the proposals. At a minimum, all proposals should include the following (not necessarily in this order):
