Association for Computing Machinery UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA STUDENT CHAPTER
What is the ACM?The Association for Computing Machinery is the longest running computer science society, established in 1947. With over 75,000 members worldwide, the ACM has dozens of special interest groups and publications. For a detailed introduction, visit http://www.acm.org/.The local chapter was founded in 2000 by Kelly Heffner, Jennifer Sartor, Teena Werley, Andrew Lenards, Stuart Reges, and Pat Murray. It continues to provide a forum for computer science talks, programming competitions, and social events. Why should I join?If you're interested in computer science, you should definitely join the ACM. If you're not interested in computer science, but are somehow a computer science major then you should also join. If you have nothing to do on Monday evenings, then what the hell... Why not try the ACM?The ACM is a fun group of students who love computers and programming. It provides a chance to get to know some of your classmates outside of lecture, as well as free pizza during talks from faculty/alumni. Come to one of the meetings and see what we're all about. |
