Westbrook invited to attend National Faculty Colloquium

Associate head Suzanne Westbrook has been invited to attend the fall 2008 Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science National College Faculty Colloquium.
Chaired by Professor Owen Astrachan of Duke University, the colloquium will bring together computer science faculty from the nation's most prestigious college computer science departments who will convene in Chicago, Illinois, October 24-26.
The colloquium provides a forum for computer science experts to advise the College Board’s Commission and Development committee on the educational standards of secondary school computer science education. The College Board is a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity.
Suzanne Westbrook is a senior lecturer on the faculty of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona. She is a member of the iPlant Collaborative Education, Outreach, and Training team (iplantcollaborative.org). Her research interests relate to broadening access to computer science education, increasing opportunities for interdisciplinary research at the undergraduate level, and integrating computational thinking concepts into K-20 education.
