Guaranteed Error Correction of LDPC Codes

Low-density parity check codes are adopted or are the main candidate
for adoption in many communications and data storage standards. In this
talk we will give an introduction to LDPC codes and modern decoding
algorithms, and then discuss our latest results in the analysis of
iterative decoding algorithms and code construction for binary
symmetric channel.

Biography

Dr. Bane Vasic is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
and Mathematics at the University of Arizona, Tucson. He is also
affiliated with the Bio5 Institute for Collaborative Bio-research.
Prior to this appointment, he was at Bell Laboratories. He developed
a decoding algorithm which is implemented in virtually all of
today's magnetic hard drives. His research interests include
coding theory, constrained systems and their applications in
nonlinear communications channels as well as in systems biology.
