We will present an overview of technology in radiation therapy, and
our contributions. In addition we will discuss the need for volumetric visualization in the treatment planning process. We will also discuss needs in multi-modality image informatics in prediction of treatment efficacy. Lastly we will discuss current funding trends and opportunities from NIH research programs.

Biography

Dr. Russell J. Hamilton, Ph.D. is an associate professor in radiation
oncology. He is a board certified clinical medical physicist. He obtained
his doctoral degree at Stanford in theoretical astrophysics and obtained
medical physics training at the University of Chicago. His main area of
research is in mathematical modeling of radiation phenomena.

Dr. Christopher J. Watchman, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in Radiation
Oncology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in medical
physics studying microdosimetry of charged particles in bone marrow. He
received his clinical medical physics training at the University of Arizona. His main areas of research are in dosimetric consequences of organ
deformation and motion in radiation therapy.
