The Telic/Aetlic Distinction in Temporal Databases

Prior research in philosophy, linguistics, artificial intelligence and other areas suggests the need to differentiate between temporal facts with goal-related semantics (i.e., telic) from those that are intrinsically devoid of culmination (i.e., atelic). We investigate the impact of the telic\ atelic distinction on temporal databases, considering data and query semantics, query languages, and conceptual models.
